The predecessor of Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis was Pharmaceutical analysis and Toxicological analysis Department in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Department (founded in 1932 and renamed Department of Pharmacy in 1942), College of Science, West China Union University. It became a master's degree authorized discipline in 1979 and a doctoral degree authorized discipline in 1998. Currently, there are 1 doctoral supervisor and 5 master supervisors. Teachers of this discipline have undertaken a number of basic research and new drug R&D projects, and accumulated rich scientific research experience during long-term drug research, especially in the research of quality control and stability of new drugs, drug metabolism in vivo and molecular imaging drug analysis. A few teachers participated in the compilation of appendices of several editions of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (1977, 1985, 1990), contributing to the standardization of drug quality control methods.
